SCANIBIO

Terms of Use

Last updated 3 September 2026

These are the rules for using Scanibio. They are written to be read, not to be clever. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Scanibio.

How your data is handled is a separate document — the Privacy Policy — and it forms part of these terms.

Who runs Scanibio, and who this is with

Scanibio is built and run by an individual — a researcher based in Hyderabad, India — referred to below as "we" or "Scanibio". "You" is the person using the app. Contact: scanibio.app@gmail.com.

Who can use it

Scanibio is a tool for laboratory work. You may use it only if you are at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. When you sign up you confirm that you are. You agree to give accurate account information and to keep it up to date.

Your account

Using it properly

Use Scanibio for its purpose — keeping and sharing lab records — and not to:

The app has an allowance for uploaded files; very large files belong in your own cloud drive with a link on the record, as the app suggests.

What you put in, and who owns what

Your records are yours. You keep all rights to the data, photos and files you put into Scanibio. You give us only the permission needed to run the service for you — to store your content, back it up, and show it to the people you have chosen to share it with. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

The app itself is ours. The Scanibio name, its design, its software and its logo belong to us. Using the app does not give you any right to copy or reuse them.

Important — Scanibio is a record-keeping and calculation aid, not a source of scientific truth.

The app helps you record what you did and work out ordinary bench numbers (buffers, dilutions, molarity, cell counts and the like). Those figures are convenience calculations. You must check every result, amount, date and label against your own protocol and judgement before you rely on it. Salt forms, hydrates, concentrations and units are yours to verify.

Scanibio is not a medical device and is not for clinical, diagnostic or treatment decisions. It does not replace your lab's own procedures, safety rules, or the professional judgement of qualified people. You remain responsible for lab safety and for following the rules that apply to your work.

Sharing and lab groups

You decide what to share and with whom. Two things are worth repeating from the Privacy Policy: a message you send is visible to the person you send it to, and an admin of a lab group can see everything its members record (they cannot change or delete it). If you do not want that, do not join the group. Do not share other people's records outside the permission they gave you.

The app is a work in progress

Scanibio is a small project, currently in testing. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and the service may be paused for maintenance. We will try to avoid losing your data or breaking things you depend on, and to warn you about big changes — but you should keep your own copy of anything you could not stand to lose, and not store in Scanibio anything that would be seriously harmful if it were exposed.

Free now, paid later

Scanibio is free while in testing. Paid plans are planned. If and when they arrive, the price and the terms for any paid feature will be shown to you before you are charged, and paying is always your choice — the free features you already rely on will not be quietly taken away. Any payment terms will be added here at that time.

Ending it

You can stop using Scanibio at any time and close your account from your profile page inside the app; what that removes and what survives is described in the Privacy Policy, and you can also delete your account by writing to us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people's data or the service at risk — where it is reasonable to, we will say why first.

No promises it cannot keep

Scanibio is provided "as is". We do our honest best, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and — to the extent the law allows — we give no warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded.

Limits on responsibility

To the fullest extent the law allows, Scanibio and its developer are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data or lost profits, or for any loss arising from a scientific result, calculation, or record you relied on without checking it (see the box above). Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months — which, while the app is free, is nil. Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under law that cannot be waived, including mandatory consumer protections.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page changes and the date at the top moves. Anything important will be said in the app too. Continuing to use Scanibio after a change means you accept the new terms.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Hyderabad, Telangana have jurisdiction over any dispute — without taking away any protection the law of your own country gives you and does not let you waive.
